Meet Our Teachers

Miss Alice
25 years of experience

After a long business career, I transitioned to teaching in 2000. Over the years, I’ve taught ninth-grade English with an emphasis on expository and research writing, seventh-grade reading tailored for struggling readers, and business and computer technology. I also taught a computer technology course—including technical writing—for several years at Pennsylvania College of Technology. In Pennsylvania, I hold teaching certifications in the following areas: ►English and Language Arts ►Elementary Education ►Business and Computer Technology ►Special Education ►Middle School Mathematics My pedagogical strength lies in teaching writing, particularly technical and expository writing—skills I view as essential and often underdeveloped in both academic and professional settings. Since retiring in 2018, I have continued working in education by substitute teaching in K–12 classrooms, gaining experience across a variety of subjects and grade levels, including elementary education. Since September 2020, I have also been teaching online reading and writing classes.

Miss Julie
30 Years of Experience

I am a retired special education and elementary teacher who now teaches online reading, vocabulary, grammar, and writing classes for students in grades K–12, with a particular focus on writing for grades K–3. Throughout my teaching career, my instructional strengths included supporting struggling readers in improving reading comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary acquisition across all grade levels. Since retiring three years ago, I have continued working in education as a substitute teacher at a K–6 school. In my online instruction, I use the Wordly Wise curriculum for reading and the 6-Trait Writing model for writing, supplemented with Wonders Grammar and ReadWorks materials. Most of my classes are one-on-one, allowing me to tailor instruction to each student’s individual needs. Each session is 45 minutes long.
